PAN Card is an important document, and it is very important that the information in it is correct. If the name in your PAN card is wrong, or you want to update your address and mobile number, then you can do this online from home. The complete process is given below:
Complete way to correct PAN card
You can make the changes through the website of NSDL (Protean) or UTIITSL. Here is a step-by-step guide through NSDL:
1. Go to the website First of all, go to the NSDL (Protean) Online Services portal.
2. Select Application Type * Application Type: Select ‘Changes or Correction in existing PAN Data’ option. * Category: Select ‘Individual’.
3. Fill in personal details Enter your existing PAN number, name, date of birth, mobile number and email ID. Fill in the captcha code and click ‘Submit’. After this, you will get a Token Number, note it down.
4. Update details (Name, Address and Mobile) * To change name: Tick the box labeled ‘Full Name’ and fill in the correct name. For this, you will have to provide Aadhaar card or any government identity card. * To change address: If your PAN is linked to Aadhaar, then the Aadhaar address will be updated automatically. Otherwise, you can fill in the new address in ‘Address for Communication’. * Mobile number/Email: Go to the ‘Telephone Number & Email ID’ section and update the new number.
5. Upload Documents You will have to upload ID Proof, Address Proof and Date of Birth Proof. Aadhaar Card is the best option for all these.
6. Fee Payment After filling all the information, you will have to pay the prescribed fee (around ₹100-₹110 for an Indian address) online. You can make the payment through net banking, debit/credit card or UPI.
7. e-KYC and Submit If you have Aadhaar, you can complete the process without sending any physical documents by filling OTP through e-KYC.
